基于矩陣嵌套的CESM負(fù)載均衡優(yōu)化方案檢索策略

摘要： 通用地球系統(tǒng)模式(Community Earth System Model，CESM)是一種定量描述氣候系統(tǒng)模式變化的數(shù)值模式，龐大的科學(xué)計(jì)算體量已使其成為高性能計(jì)算領(lǐng)域的重要研究對(duì)象之一。CESM各個(gè)氣象子模塊及組件之間的負(fù)載不均衡問(wèn)題使其計(jì)算性能一直不理想，且由于其可用的進(jìn)程布局方案本身的多樣性會(huì)導(dǎo)致的巨大檢索量,因此通過(guò)人工調(diào)參用枚舉尋找最優(yōu)布局本身并不現(xiàn)實(shí)。為解決這個(gè)問(wèn)題，提出并實(shí)踐了一種基于矩陣嵌套思想的負(fù)載平衡優(yōu)化方案檢索策略幫助完成進(jìn)程布局優(yōu)化過(guò)程，并介入基于模式并行要求的篩查保證檢索結(jié)果具有可行性，最終通過(guò)實(shí)驗(yàn)證明通過(guò)這種檢索策略搜索獲得的最優(yōu)布局與默認(rèn)布局相比平均計(jì)算性能提升達(dá)到47.3%,并在5個(gè)節(jié)點(diǎn)上實(shí)現(xiàn)了1.419的加速比。

Abstract： The Community Earth System Model(CESM) is a numerical model to quantitatively describe the change of climate system model, which is one of the most important research objects in the field of high-performance computing because of its huge volume of scientific computing. The load imbalance between each meteorological sub module and component of CESM makes its computing performance unsatisfactory. It is not realistic to retrieve the optimal layout manually by enumerating parameters because the diversity of available process layout schemes will lead to a huge amount of retrieval. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposed and implemented a retrieval strategy based on the matrix-nesting idea of load balancing optimization scheme to help the process layout and intervenes in the screening work based on the parallel requirements of the original model. Finally, the experiment proved that the optimal layout obtained by this search strategy search had a performance improvement of 47.3% compared with the default layout and achieved an acceleration ratio of 1.419 on 5 nodes.

0 引言
在全球變暖的背景下，極端天氣事件發(fā)生頻率顯著增加，嚴(yán)重影響社會(huì)經(jīng)濟(jì)和人民的生命財(cái)產(chǎn)安全，天氣預(yù)報(bào)以及對(duì)重大氣候異常事件預(yù)測(cè)的重要性日益凸顯。通用地球系統(tǒng)模式(Community Earth System Model，CESM)作為一種定量描述氣候系統(tǒng)模式變化的數(shù)值模式是氣候模擬的重要工具，也是全球領(lǐng)先的地球系統(tǒng)模型之一。由于全球氣候變化是一個(gè)長(zhǎng)期且包含各種物理原理的過(guò)程，因此使用地球系統(tǒng)模型進(jìn)行氣候變化模擬通常需要對(duì)數(shù)十年甚至數(shù)百年的模型進(jìn)行整合推演，并且對(duì)計(jì)算資源的需求量巨大，地球系統(tǒng)模型也因而成為高性能計(jì)算在科學(xué)計(jì)算領(lǐng)域內(nèi)極為重要的應(yīng)用之一，但模型的各個(gè)模塊在CPU上不均勻的負(fù)載分布對(duì)整個(gè)氣象模式的計(jì)算速度有非常嚴(yán)重的影響。
